Provided for in local law as mandatory since January 1, 2020, visible fees are now mandatory in Portugal.
But not for all invoices and products and with some rules and an exception.
Except for tires, where the visible fee must appear on the end user's invoice, the visible fees are mandatory only on invoices between economic agents. This is between a manufacturer and a distributor and between distributors and retailers.
For these transactions, invoices covering equipment and products such as EEE, oils, industrial and automotive batteries, tires, vehicles and packaging must indicate the visible fees of these products and materials or use a predefined text recommended by APA - Agência Portuguesa do Ambiente - mentioning each waste collective scheme web's pages, where the visible rates are listed.
